Our CASA‑approved Category B synthetic trainer allows pilots to practise instrument procedures, emergency scenarios, and workload management in a highly realistic environment—without the cost, weather limitations, or risk of aircraft‑based training. Simulator sessions can be used for licence and rating training, instrument proficiency checks, recent experience, and skills refreshers, all under the supervision of a qualified instructor. Whether you’re building instrument time, preparing for a check, or sharpening your IFR decision‑making, FlightX sim hire provides a flexible, cost‑effective way to maintain and advance your flying skills.

Use of the simulator

For qualified pilots, FlightX also offers self‑hire simulator access for currency and proficiency maintenance. This option is ideal for pilots who want to practise instrument approaches, procedures, and workflows at their own pace, without an instructor in the seat. Self‑directed sessions provide a flexible, cost‑effective way to stay current, rehearse upcoming flights, or maintain IFR confidence in a realistic simulator environment. Availability is subject to licence, experience, and regulatory requirements, ensuring the simulator is used safely and appropriately at all times.

Self-Use Approval

To ensure safe, effective, and consistent use of the FlightX simulator, pilots seeking self‑hire access complete a structured approval process. This begins with a one‑hour familiarisation session with a FlightX instructor, covering simulator operation, aircraft systems, avionics, and normal use of the instructor panel. Once familiar, pilots complete a supervised session using the instructor controls, followed by a short check ride to confirm correct operation, procedural knowledge, and safe simulator management. Upon successful completion, pilots are approved for self‑use simulator hire, allowing them to maintain currency and proficiency independently. This process can take up to 2 hours to complete.

Pricing for hire:

$275/hr (including an instructor)

$225/hr (self use)
